Design + Make Tutor
Headquartered at the AA’s Hooke Park campus, Design + Make explores fabrication and design at the intersection of craft knowledge, innovative technologies and natural materials. Since graduating with distinction from the Architectural Association’s MArch Design + Make in early 2016, I have worked full time as a studio tutor for the programme. Working closely with the programme’s directors and students, I am responsible for delivering an integrated manner of teaching - providing instruction covering studio design, complex computational tools such as 3D scanning and a host of fabrication strategies in order to enable the realisation of experimental architectural constructs.
In parallel I have helped to lead three AA Visiting Schools in Hooke Park - oriented towards both analog and digital fabrication. The first, Robotic Fabrications visiting school, operates as an experimental branch of Design + Make. Working closely as a tutor with director Emmanuel Vercruysse, we have led the integration of new tools and processes for the making of architecture. Acting as the director of the SummerBuild programme, I have been responsible for coordinating and helping to instruct an international team of participants who assist students of D+M in their yearly fabrications.
